Dima and Tanya said their I do’s at the Crest Center in Asheville, NC overlooking beautiful mountains. I love how simple and elegant their wedding was. Everything to the tiny tiniest detail was designed and made by Tanya, her family and her best friends. Their gorgeous paper flower backdrop at the reception?!!! YOU have to see it! Tanya’s dad is a beekeeper so they decided to use his honey for the guest favor’s. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day guys!
How did you meet?
We have actually known each other since we were kids. We didn’t really get to know each other that well until we started going to the same university and started getting involved in leadership with church youth. Dmitriy ended up staying extra year in school which happened to be my final year and that was when we started realizing that we liked each other. The rest was history! He proposed on a Saturday night in downtown Asheville. It was at this little church we had walked around a year before that talking to each other. Without knowing that within a few months we would start dating. When we approached the church there were rose petals and candles forming a path up the front stairs. And well he stood on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Some of our close friends and family were hiding behind bushes and trees capturing the moment. Afterwards, we went out to me favorite sushi restaurant and celebrated.
What inspired your wedding style?
I just wanted something fresh, simple, and classic.
Do you have any personal anecdotes about your gown and why you chose it?
It’s kind of a funny story. There was this girl that I had met awhile back in Florida and I started following her on instagram. She had gotten married about 2-3 years before me and when I saw her wedding dress I looked at it and said that is the exact dress I want for my wedding. I had taken screen shots of it and had it saved for future reference. Then I remember her selling it about a year or so after she got married and I was bummed out because I wasn’t planning on getting married anytime soon. So another year or two goes by and she started posting about it again saying that she was selling it! I was so surprised and excited so I got in touch with her right away. She lived on the other side of America so I couldn’t go and try it on. I just prayed about it and told her that I would buy it. I had to get minor alterations done to it and it was perfect! I loved everything about my dress!
Do you have any advice for future brides-to-be who are planning today?
Don’t stress over it too much. And don’t expect everything to come out exactly how you had planned. There were some things that didn’t turn out how we had hoped but at the end of the day it was our wedding day. It was a special day for us and all those things that just became part of our happy day. 🙂
