I don’t even know where to start! We took one month long vacation or how we are calling it a TRUE OVERDUE HONEYMOON! : ) Vadim and I spent 15 days in China and then 15 days in Thailand. The whole trip was kind of a spontaneous idea and we had to plan the whole thing in 2 weeks prior to our departure. We were so busy with work and were so sleep deprived that once we landed overseas we were’t even jet lagged. It was quite convenient lol.
I decided to blog Thailand photos first because we fell in love with the country and its people. Insanely gorgeous islands, beaches, delicious food, smiley people and cheap massages. You just can’t top that! We flew in to Krabi, Thailand from Shanghai at 2 a.m. Since the last long tail boat to any island leaves at 5 p.m. we had to figure something out. We thought it would be a great idea to spend one day in Krabi town instead of going straight to Islands. I booked Hop Inn Krabi hotel for 2 nights for only $45 !!! It is a brand new hotel, we could still smell fresh paint on the walls. They had new AC and showers with glass doors (usually hotels have just a shower head so water splashes all over the toilet and a sink : ) fun haha
After spending 2 weeks in China I wasn’t able to check my emails since Google doesn’t work over there OR ANY KIND OF SOCIAL MEDIA (I had a forced social media fast : ) ) We arrived to the hotel and I had to spend a good chunk of the night answering emails. After quick 1.5 hour nap our tour bus arrived to pick us up for the day.
DAY 1
Tiger Cave Temple + Crystal Pool + Krabi Hot Springs
Tiger temple is one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in the province. It took us by surprise. Again I had no time to do any research so I didn’t really know what to expect. It wasn’t just a temple. It was an open temple on top of a mountain that you had to hike up to. There are 1,237 steps that are leading up to the summit and let me tell you, they were insane (couple feet high). If you are’t in shape this is definitely a challenge. You can see how red our faces were on the photos once we got to the top. Half way through the stairs Vadim started asking people who were coming down if it was all worth it haha. It totally was! The view was breathtaking and of course pictures aren’t going to do it justice.
Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos around Krabi town itself. We left our camera at the hotel and just went to night market, restaurants and awesome $8 massages.
haha that happy, red, sweaty face
Blue Lagoon. This is a true color! I didn’t edit it. So beautiful! Too bad no one can swim there
One cool thing about this trip that I got to see my friend Cha!!! I’ve met her in 2007 when both of us were au-pairs in Vermont. We kept in touch but I didn’t realize she lived in Krabi. When I saw her post on Facebook with a tagged location I was so freaking happy! What are the chances!!!! Thank you social media:)
