The Omni Grove Park Inn is one of the most iconic hotels and most sought-after wedding venues in Asheville, North Carolina. The hotel first opened in 1913 after being constructed by 400 men who hauled granite boulders from Sunset Mountain. At the opening banquet, Secretary of State, William Jennings Bryan, declared that The Grove Park Inn “was built for the ages”. Here we are, over a century later, and The Omni Grove Park Inn is one of the most popular wedding destinations in Asheville.
I was thrilled when Amy & Michael asked me to be their wedding photographer. It was a December wedding, and I knew it would be gorgeous. On their wedding day, it ended up raining. Lots of couples worry about this but Amy & Michael didn’t seem phased. In fact, it created a romantic, moody vibe for their photography and I was all about it.
One of the coolest things about Grove Park Inn is that there’s an abandoned castle right next to the property. Talk about dreamy, right? You know we had to take some photos there. They turned out so stunning! Plus, even though it rained, we had the most epic sunset.
Due to the rain, the ceremony was moved to the Seely Pavilion. Mary Bell Events made it all happen so flawlessly. It was our first time working together and it was a great experience! Interesting fact – Grove Park Inn has never hosted a wedding ceremony in this spot. It was very intimate with everyone sitting in close proximity. It felt like an appropriate way to celebrate Amy & Michael’s marriage with all of their closest friends and family.
The reception decor was so welcoming, with a huge fireplace behind the sweetheart table. Everyone had an amazing time dancing, dining, and celebrating the happy couple.
It was so fun working with Amy & Michael. They are wonderful and kind people. I knew from the first time I met them in person at a coffee shop that we would have a great time, and I was right!
